For the launch of EASTWEST, the Brixton/Berlin label connected invited 2 legends, Flashmob (Milan) and Alican (Istanbul) -the result: 2 mind blowing ep’s ....... EASTWEST , connecting DJs/producers worldwide with a series of releases and parties in the cities involved to celebrate the uniting power of the beat. Alican ‘Indigo’ EP (connected 009DEAST ) Alican Yuksel from Istanbul/Turkey, got into the electronic dance in 2000 producing drum & bass and breaks tunes. In 2003 Alican had a chance meeting with Murat Uncuoglo probably Turkeys strongest DJ and producer they worked in the studio and Murat helped him hone his sound. With Murat they have set up a label entitled ‘Teknikal Rotation’ which features their own tracks and tracks from the hottest artists in Turkey and around the globe. Alican has also been hosting a weekly show on the largest and pioneering Turkish radio station, Future Generation, also known as FG 93.7 Recently he has done a compilation for Get Physical Musics’ renowned Full Body Workout series.Alicans tracks have featured on labels like Get Physical, Global Underground, Sagol,Prisoner of Love and many more. The ‘Indigo ‘EP is named after and inspired by The Club Indigo in Istanbul which Alican has run managed and DJ’ed at for the last 5 years and has been the scene of the development and experimentation of his sound. The ‘Indigo ‘EP is Techno Electronic , conjuring mental images of desolate landscapes in one moment and beauty in urban claustrophobia in the next. Driving beats in one instant ,shrouded by subtle sketches of unrecognisable sounds , veering into melancholic moodiness in the next. Tunes made with precision and love.
